Singapore's First Integrated E-Waste PRS Program

ALBA has been appointed by the National Environment Agency (NEA) as the Producer Responsibility Scheme (PRS) Operator for Electrical and Electronic Waste (E-Waste).

NEA appoints ALBA as PRS operator

The appointment of the PRS Operator, ALBA E-Waste Smart Recycling Pte Ltd, the local ALBA entity, is an integral part of Singapore’s Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) scheme for E-Waste management. ALBA E-Waste will collect regulated consumer E-Waste across Singapore for proper treatment and recycling for a period of 5 years, from 1 July 2021 to 30 June 2026.

ALBA PRS Overview

E-Waste will be channeled through the ALBA E-Waste Sorting & Logistics Hub for weighing and categorisation, before they are sent to licensed E-Waste recyclers for material recovery. Raw materials are then recovered and channeled back into production, thus creating a circular value chain and reducing our environmental impact.

Resource Sustainability Act

The Resource Sustainability Act (RSA) was introduced by the Ministry of the Environment and Sustainability in 2020. Under the RSA, producers of regulated electrical and electronic products are responsible for the collection and proper treatment of their e-waste.
